Vital Bon-Matt Stonewall — Soil Surface Stabilization & Dust Suppression Agent

The Vital Bon-Matt Stonewall soil surface stabilization and dust suppression agent is an environmentally protective material imported from Australia by U&U ENGINEERING INC.. Manufactured by Vital Chemical, this multi-purpose water-based copolymer emulsion is designed to stabilize loose surfaces, providing an effective solution to issues such as dust generation, wind erosion, soil erosion, and soil washout.

Applications

This product has been tested and confirmed to deliver high-efficiency dust suppression and surface stabilization. Supplied as a concentrated liquid, it must be diluted with water before application. Once applied, it forms a durable and flexible sealed surface layer — suitable for a wide variety of exposed or easily weathered ground conditions. It delivers immediate stabilization, and is appropriate for use in:

  • Construction sites
  • Road sub-base, road embankments and slopes
  • Stockpiles and loose material storage areas
  • Bare soil, sandy or aggregate surfaces
  • Large-scale areas such as tailings dams
  • Earth embankments, drainage channels, and water diversion infrastructure
  • Unpaved dirt or gravel roads
  • Pond, dam or clear-water channel lining
  • Surface stabilization for rail-car loading areas
  • Encapsulation of hazardous material (e.g. asbestos)

Features

  • Rapid and flexible application; suitable for a wide range of site conditions.
  • Cures within a few hours; once hardened, the layer will not re-mobilize — significantly reducing dust and erosion.
  • Certified as non-hazardous; formulation and performance comply with environmental safety standards.
  • Substantial savings in water usage and construction time compared with traditional dust-control methods.
  • Dilution ratios can be adjusted according to the required duration of effectiveness.
  • The base liquid is colorless; but coloring can be added if desired for aesthetic or identification purposes.

Specifications

  • Appearance: colorless or green (or other colour, if customized) liquid
  • Odour: mild
  • pH: 7.0 – 9.5
  • Specific gravity: approx. 1.04
  • Diluent: water
  • Flammability: non-flammable / not combustible
  • No explosive or hazardous properties

Application

(1) Mixing and dilution

  • Prepare clean equipment ensuring no residual contaminants in tank or sprayer lines.
  • Fill the sprayer tank with 25–50% of the required water volume.
  • Add Vital Bon-Matt Stonewall concentrate to the water.
  • Top up with additional water to reach the total required volume.
  • Mix thoroughly by circulating with a pump, or by alternating movement of a water cart if using dribble-bar or spray application.
  • Apply at a rate of 1 L of diluted solution per square metre.
  • Allow to dry naturally — curing typically takes 4–6 hours. Once cured, the treatment will not leach or flow.
  • Use diluted solution promptly; avoid storing diluted mix for prolonged periods before application.

Suggested Dilution & Expected Service Life:

Dilution RatioApproximate Effective Duration
20% (200 L per 1000 L water)24 months
10% (100 L per 1000 L water)12 months
5% (50 L per 1000 L water)6 months
3% (30 L per 1000 L water)3 months

(2) Equipment for Application

Suitable application methods include:

  • Manual spraying or misting
  • Dribble-bar via water cart
  • Spray-nozzle systems
  • Water cart spraying

(3) Note:

  • For long-lasting surface sealing, it’s recommended to grade and level the road or area before application.
  • Do not apply if rain or strong winds are expected within 6 hours post-application.
  • Avoid contact with natural waterways, ponds or drainage — in case of spills, stop immediately and follow safety protocols per the SDS.

Case Study

Brisbane, Australia – Cement Plant:

A cement manufacturer had large piles of gypsum stored outdoors for up to 12 months. Gypsum dust frequently dispersed under wind and rain, causing material loss and environmental hazards. After applying Stonewall, the stockpiles were stabilized — significantly reducing dust emissions and material loss while maintaining environmental safety and operational integrity.

Residential Development, Canberra:

A large-scale housing project faced erosion risks due to strong winds, poor soil quality, and cold climate — making conventional turfing unfeasible. By combining Stonewall surface stabilization with a green-cover mulch product from Vital Chemical (e.g. a bonded fibre matrix), the developer achieved rapid soil stabilization, wind and rain resistance, successful revegetation, reduced irrigation needs, and overall improved environmental performance.

Hsinchu, Taiwan – Earthworks Storage Site:

A soil-stockpile yard near Hsinchu Airport, subject to strong and sustained winds, applied Stonewall instead of the traditional method of covering with geotextile. The result was rapid dust suppression, reduced labor and material costs, and minimized large-scale fabric covering — a practical, efficient solution for dust control near sensitive areas.
